One of the highest honors within our fraternity is the opportunity to volunteer your time and talent to Sigma Lambda Beta’s Education Foundation (SLBEF). Following are descriptions as well as the requirements and expectations of our volunteer Board of Trustees positions. SLBEF BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The SLBEF Board of Trustees (BOT) develops the strategy and plans to meet the mission of the SLB Education Foundation. They are also active participants in the execution of those plans through their own initiatives or through existing committees.
JAIME BENITEZ

Starting his first term in 2024, Jaime “Empresario” Benitez is an alum of the Nu Gamma Chapter at the University of Houston - Downtown, where he served as treasurer on the Executive Board. Jaime holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and minor in Human Resources. He is currently employed at BNY Mellon as a Client Service Manager.
SAM CENTELLAS

Sam Centellas has served multiple terms, with his most recent starting in 2023. Sam is an alum from the Epsilon Chapter at Western Michigan University. He holds a master’s degree in Education from Grand Valley State University and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Western Michigan. He is currently the Executive Director of CDFI Friendly in South Bend, Indiana and does organizational, leadership and fundraising consulting through his company OutSight Design.
Sam has held various fraternal leadership positions and is a former President of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. He serves as a general member on the Board of Trustees focusing primarily on fundraising activities and communications.
ANDY NINO

Starting his first term in 2026, Andy “Indo” Niño is excited to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation. Brother Indo crossed at the Almighty Theta Chapter at Indiana University on 01/25/1993 at 11:54 PM and is a proud Alumni of both Theta and IU, where he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.
He is currently the CFO of Shalom Health Care Center, Inc, a Federal Qualified Health Care Center (FQHC) in Indianapolis, IN., and has spent most of his past career in banking and finance. He serves and has served on multiple boards and held various roles including Chairman and Treasurer in the community of Indianapolis, throughout the state of Indiana, and with Indiana University. Most boards have been focused on housing, health care, the Latino community, education, mentorship, and alumni relations.
Andy is proud to be married to his lovely wife of 28 years, Geneva. They are proud parents of Michael, Jocelyn, and Matthew (also a brother at the Theta Chapter). Over the years he has helped raise money for the brothers in the state of Indiana and Theta and looks forward to helping on the national level.
JORDAN PAREDES

Jordan Paredes joined the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation Board of Trustees in 2026. He is an alumnus of the Alpha Epsilon Chapter at The City College of New York, CUNY, where he held multiple undergraduate fraternal leadership roles, including serving as Chapter President.
Jordan holds a B.S. in Political Science from The City College of New York, CUNY, and a B.B.A in Finance and Investments from Baruch College, CUNY. Professionally, he serves as a Senior Technical Project Manager at a global investment management firm, where he leads enterprise AI initiatives focused on software delivery execution, operational transformation, and risk reduction.
Jordan brings to the Foundation a passion for community, cultural awareness, strategic execution, and leadership development. He is especially committed to expanding access to higher education and strengthening Brotherhood development for future generations. Outside of his professional and board service, Jordan is involved in real estate investing, volunteering in animal shelters, and mentoring others on business, leadership, and career growth
JOSE PUENTE

Starting his first term in 2026, Jose “Inexpugnable” Martinez Puente serves on the Board of Trustees for the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation, where he supports the organization’s fundraising strategy and long‑term sustainability. Jose became a brother of Sigma Lambda Beta in the Spring of 2012 at The University of Texas at Austin and has remained committed to advancing the Fraternity’s mission of empowering men to better their communities, country, and the world. He previously served the Fraternity as an Assistant Regional Director and as Vice President of Programming during his undergraduate years.
Professionally, Jose works in procurement and supply chain management, bringing experience in strategic sourcing, contract oversight, and cross‑functional leadership.
Jose holds a BBA in Supply Chain Management and a BA in History from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as an MBA from Texas Woman’s University. He is passionate about expanding educational opportunities for brothers and strengthening the Foundation’s impact for future generations.
ADAN RAMIREZ

Starting his first term in 2025, Adan Ramirez is an alumnus of the Alpha Chapter at the University of Iowa. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Political Science, Philosophy, and Ethics & Public Policy before obtaining his Juris Doctor from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Adan currently serves as an in-house attorney at KONE, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, where he supports operations across the East Region and contributes to strategic initiatives impacting the business.
As an undergraduate, Adan held multiple leadership roles within the fraternity, including Chapter President. He later became a founding member of the Alpha Alumni Association and most recently served as its Chairman, helping to strengthen the bridge between alumni and undergraduate brothers.
Adan is committed to the continued advancement of Sigma Lambda Beta and its members, both educationally and professionally, and looks forward to supporting initiatives that empower the Brotherhood to grow and thrive.
STEVE SOLIZ

Starting is first term in 2024, Steve Soliz is an alumnus of the Gamma Chapter at Illinois State University. He holds a master’s degree as an alumnus from the University of Illinois-Chicago, receiving his M.B.A. with a dual concentration in Business Analytics & Marketing. Steve is a Director of Commercial Analytics at Highline Warren, leading a high-performing team that leverages advanced analytics to drive consumer insights, promotion strategy, and data-driven business decisions.
Steve served in multiple fraternal roles at Gamma Chapter including Chapter President, Vice President, and created the Alumni Coordinator role which he held his senior year to establish more alumni activity and programs with the current undergraduate members.
ULISES ZAMORA

Starting his first term in 2026, Ulises is an alumnus of the Omicron Epsilon Chapter at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management, a degree that provided him with the technical framework and strategic mindset necessary to lead complex projects and serve his community effectively. His professional background is centered on leveraging these management skills to drive successful results and organizational growth.
His goal in this role is to collaborate across chapters to advocate for the Foundation’s mission and ensure we are providing the essential tools necessary for our brothers to succeed. He looks forward to deepening his knowledge of nonprofit governance and working alongside his fellow trustees to empower the next generation of Sigma Lambda Beta members.
RICARDO ZAMUDIO

Ricardo Zamudio has served on the board since the Foundation's inception. Ric is an alum from Alpha Chapter at the University of Iowa and is one of the original founders of Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Computer Science. He is currently retired, spending > 35 years working for State Farm Insurance.
Ric has held various fraternal positions including President, Vice President of Programming and Finance. He was instrumental in establishing the Sigma Lambda Beta’s Education Foundation in 2001 and served as the Chair until 2009. He served as a general member on the Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2015, and once again took on the chair position in 2016.
BOT Member Requirements and Expectations
Requirements to be a BOT Member:

A brother of Sigma Lambda Beta, in good standing.

Undergraduate degree at a minimum.

History demonstrates an on-going desire and willingness to give of time, talent, and treasure
-
Experience in a post-undergraduate fraternal role within Sigma Lambda Beta or as a Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation committee member (pre or post undergraduate).
-
Prior work and/or fraternal experience demonstrates ability to lead and deliver successful results.
-
A working knowledge of the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation and a willingness to deepen that knowledge.
-
Agreement and willingness to meet the stated expectations and work approach of the BOT.
-
Previous knowledge or experience working with a foundation or 501(c)3 non-profit organization is not required, but desirable.

Commitment to complete the "Nonprofit Board Member Essentials Certificate" on nonprofitready.org prior to starting term as a board member.
BOT Expectations:
-
Always be a fundraiser.
-
Understand you are always representing the SLB Education Foundation.

Actively attend and engage in all BOT meetings.

Give the courtesy of a 4-day or shorter turnaround time when responding to Foundation related emails, texts, etc.

Take ownership of your work items and drive them towards completion.
-
Collaborate with other BOT or committee members proactively as needed.

If you oversee a committee, take ownership of leading all facets of the team (size, meeting frequency, assignment of work, etc.) as well as accountability for the delivery of committee results.

Consistently deliver with quality.

On-going actions demonstrate your willingness to give the Foundation each of your 3Ts: Time, Talent, and Treasure.
